Do we have an instant classic on our hands? This may be the case when the new Clifton collection from Baume & Mercier debuts at the 2013 edition of the SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) in Geneva.
Baume & Mercier like to keep things relatively straightforward and I admire them for this quality. They are not obsessed with the manufacture of overly complicated timepieces (that almost no one can afford anyway) and instead concentrate on a well made Swiss watch that exudes understated elegance.
For the Clifton collection, Baume & Mercier have decided to take a look back using their own heritage and have selected historical models that epitomize the “golden fifties” as its basis.
The 18K Red Gold (39mm), Complete Calendar (43mm) and Small Seconds (41mm) comprise the collection that will sell in the $2,700-$6,300 range. To explore these models in detail visit the Baume & Mercier website.
