Christie’s To Sell George Washington’s Original Thanksgiving Proclamation In November


American History is on the auction block at Christie’s in November when a proclamation signed by George Washington (estimate: $8-12 million) will be sold. The proclamation signed on October 3, 1789 established the first federal Thanksgiving and set the last Thursday of November as the day.

Leading up to the single-lot evening sale on November 14th, this historic document will be on tour beginning at Christie’s Beverly Hills on October 17th and concluding at Christie’s New York on the sale date.
