From 23 March-28 July 2013, the V&A will be having the first international retrospective of David Bowie’s career. David Bowie Is has been curated by Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh who have selected more than 300 objects from the David Bowie Archive. This true multimedia experience includes a broad range of items from original costumes, photography and film to Bowie’s own instruments, handwritten lyrics and diary entries.
A signed collector’s edition book has also been produced in conjunction with David Bowie Is which traces Bowie’s career from its beginnings in London, through the breakthroughs of Space Oddity and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and on to his impact on the larger international tradition of twentieth-century avant-garde art.
The Collector’s Special Edition will be clothbound and feature a lithographic print signed by Bowie himself. Each edition will be numbered, cased in perspex and hand-finished. Only 500 copies will be made and are priced at £395. If you are interested in this limited edition you should register here for your best chance to obtain a copy as 300 of the 500 will be reserved through online pre-order.
