Now that Fiat (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino), has been reintroduced to the U.S. market and is garnering some attention in the press for 500 as well as the Fiat Gucci collaboration, Rizzoli has seized the opportunity to publish Fiat 500: The Autobiography, 172 pages dedicated to the iconic car.
Even though Fiat has a history dating back to 1899, it is the cars from Italy’s fashionable ‘dolce vita’ boom years that have captured our imagination. This book celebrates the 500 (first introduced in 1957) for both its groundbreaking design and its role as a pop-culture icon and despite its diminutive size, has proved to be both practical and popular.
The book features the expected array of vintage images of the 500, including film stills, paparazzi shots, and advertising but also includes more sober chapters on design.
Fiat 500: The Autobiography will be published in October 2011
