J.Crew has been very successful at seeking out great brands like Alden, Dents and Barbour to name a few and integrating them (sometimes with a few custom treatments) into their line-up .
In the January 2013 Style Guide, J. Crew showcases the Kasson mountain parka from Penfield, an outerwear brand from Massachusetts that has been kicking around since the 1970’s. The Kasson is part of the 1975 Collection which showcases only the most classic and staple Penfield silhouettes from the past and present which makes it easy to understand why J. Crew is on board with this one.
With an exterior fabric constructed from Teflon coated 60/40 cotton nylon, every single aspect of the detailing is top-notch. A water-resistant and windproof shell is adorned with antique metal snaps, leather cord adjustable hood locks alongside a plaid and contrast lining. J. Crew has scaled down the colour choices so your options are limited to cobalt and tan instead of the usual five variants that Penfield has available.
