The U-Throat Oxford

Taking its name after the u-shaped patten of punching that follows the throat of the shoe, this classic oxford can vary from a more restrained version like the Gaziano & Girling Hayes to something a little more ornamented like the Crockett & Jones Westbourne.

When making an investment in better shoes to wear with your suits, I generally recommend a plain oxford first due to its versatility. However, the u-throat may be the style of shoe you consider for your third or fourth pair. It adds interest, but not an excessive amount.
